Himanta Biswa Sarma Flags Off Projects in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT: The Chief Minister was in the district of Golaghat today, December 9 as a part of his ongoing project across the state. Golaghat comes next on the list of eleven chosen districts after Bongaigaon, Tamulpur and Morigaon which the chief minister had visited in the past few days.

Today's event was hosted in the Samannay Khetra in Golaghat and saw the participation of thousands of people. Several ministers, MlLAs and other dignitaries of the state also attended this event. Speaking on the occasion, Himanta Biswa Sarma iterated on the contributions of famous personalities from this region and the rich heritage of the district right from the Ahom days.

As in the previous districts, Himanta Biswa Sarma also laid the foundations of several projects in the district. He announced two new sports complexes in the district. These mini-stadium projects will be created in the Khumtai and Sarupathar regions and serve the enthusiasts of the district and beyond. The Industrial Training Institute in Dhansiri, Residential Girls' Polytechnic and Golaghat Polytechnic are to be upgraded to Centers of Excellence with support from the Tata Group and will match the requirement of Industry 4.0 standards.

An electricity grid station at Letekujan and a grid substation at Sarupathar areas have also been sanctioned by the state government. These are aimed to provide uninterrupted electricity across the Golaghat District. A state university has also been announced by the chief minister, which will soon be able to accept students.

Development and beautification of several roads and the river bank have also been sanctioned by the state government. The most important among them is the development of the heritage 'Dhudor Ali' commissioned during the Ahom era in the state. Not only will this section of road be developed and the sides decorated but also be extended.

A hospital project has also been announced in the district to cater to the needs of the people living there. All the government offices in the district will also be bought under one complex. Initially, the DC office and the auxiliary branches will be operated out of the new complex and other departments including health, education, and veterinary will also be moved into this complex.

An ethnic lunch was also prepared in the traditional way for the CM and other guests in the Sarupathar region of the district.
